Smarter Benefits Begin with BR Intelligence
Meet the AI-powered foundation of Benefits Reimagined — a connected suite of intelligent tools that automate benefits administration, improve compliance, and personalize employee experiences.
Ten AI modules, one governed data model. BR Intelligence maps carrier files, ranks plans, answers employees, drafts and checks HR content, verifies documents, routes tickets and searches everything — from the same record of truth the platform enrolls and bills from.
The AI Core of Benefits Reimagined
"BR Intelligence is the engine behind the AI-powered employee benefits administration experience. It automates data mapping across carriers and payroll vendors, verifies documents, answers questions and predicts compliance risk — not as eight products bolted onto a portal, but as one intelligence layer that every screen calls, reading from the same record the platform enrolls, bills and reports from."
One Intelligence Layer, Five Kinds of User
The same models serve very different people. Pick a seat and see which modules do the work — and where the person stays in charge.
For employees: a benefits desk that already knows them
An employee never meets "BR Intelligence". They meet Athena when they have a question, IntelliSuggest when they have a choice, IntelliSearch when they are looking for a form, and IntelliVerify when they upload a birth certificate and it is accepted in minutes instead of days. Each answer is built from their own record and their employer's approved documents, in their language, with the next step one click away.
Modules at work
- Athena — answers from the employee's records and cited policy, then points to the screen
- IntelliSuggest — ranked plans with the reason for each match and a what-if simulator
- IntelliSearch — one natural-language search bar across plans, documents, forms and FAQs
- IntelliVerify — proof documents read, classified and checked on upload
Where the person stays in charge
Nothing is elected, waived or changed by AI.
Recommendations and answers open the enrollment step; the employee makes the election there, on the audited engine.
For administrators: proposals to approve, not queues to clear
The administrator's day is a list of things the AI has already done most of: field mappings proposed for a new carrier file, dependent documents verified and waiting for a click, an Open Enrollment reminder drafted in the approved template, a batch of tickets classified and routed. Every item shows what the model saw and why it concluded what it did — the administrator approves, edits or rejects, and that decision becomes training signal.
Modules at work
- IntelliMap — proposes field mappings from an 834 or companion guide; you confirm
- IntelliVerify — reads, classifies and checks proof documents against the dependent record
- IntelliEdit — drafts and checks notices, FAQs and emails for tone, accuracy and compliance
- Athena for Admins — help for the screen being configured, checks and read-only lookups; AI-Powered Configuration proposes rows from the client's documents
Where the person stays in charge
A proposal becomes a change only when someone approves it.
Approvals, edits and rejections are logged with the model's inputs — the audit trail is the training data.
For the HR service desk: the answer before the call
When a ticket arrives in BR Resolve, Ticket Intelligence has already classified it, set its priority from the words and the deadline behind them, and routed it to the right queue. AutoResponse drafts the reply from the employee's own record and the relevant policy — the agent reads, edits, sends. Athena on the admin side lets the agent ask "what is this employee's situation?" and get the Employee 360 summarized before they pick up the phone.
Modules at work
- Ticket Intelligence — automatically classify and route tickets to the right HR representative or team
- AutoResponse — an AI-powered communication assistant that drafts accurate, instant responses across chat, email or helpdesk
- Athena for admins inside BR Resolve — case summaries, next-best-action, similar resolved cases
- IntelliEdit — tone and compliance check on every outbound reply
Where the person stays in charge
Drafts are drafts until an agent sends them.
Sensitive categories — leave, disability, terminations — can be configured to never auto-draft.
For IT and integration teams: connections in days, on your platform
Integration is where benefits projects used to stall. IntelliMap reads a carrier's companion guide and sample 834, proposes the field mapping, validates it against real data and hands the integration team a versioned template — so AI mapping greatly reduces the integration timeline rather than adding a vendor to babysit. Everything runs where the rest of the platform runs, behind the same single sign-on and role-based permissions.
What IT gets
- IntelliMap templates, versioned with rollback, separate build and production environments
- One API-native platform for SuccessFactors and every other HRIS, no data copied to an AI vendor
- Model calls scoped by the calling user's permissions; prompts, inputs and outputs logged
- Encryption in transit and at rest; HIPAA alignment
Where the person stays in charge
A mapping goes to production when an integrator promotes it.
Try/catch validation shows exactly which record and which rule failed before anything is loaded.
For leadership and compliance: risk found before the filing
The same three models that serve employees serve the people accountable for cost and compliance. The ML Engine watches enrollment, billing and ACA measurement data for the patterns that become penalties — an hours-eligible population nobody offered coverage to, a carrier invoice drifting from the census, a COBRA notice window about to close. AI Insight explains each one in a sentence with the records behind it, and BR Intelligence dashboards turn "are we compliant?" into a question with a dated answer.
What leaders see
- Predictive analytics on cost trends, plan migration and utilization — with the population behind every number
- Compliance automation: ACA, HIPAA and COBRA documentation generated, timed and evidenced
- Four-way reconciliation and carrier billing variances surfaced by anomaly detection, resolved at source
- An AI usage log: which model did what, for whom, on which data, approved by whom
Where the person stays in charge
Every insight links to the records; every action has an owner.
Reports are reproducible: same filter, same date, same answer — the way an auditor expects.
Ten Modules, One Intelligence Layer
Each module has its own job and its own page. All of them read the same record, obey the same permissions, and hand their proposals to a person.
BR IntelliMap
AI-powered field mapping for instant integrations. Reads 834s and companion guides, proposes the mapping, validates it on real data, and turns it into a reusable template. Onboarding a carrier moves from weeks to days.
ExploreBR IntelliSuggest
Personalized benefits recommendations. Evaluates each employee's demographic data, dependent structure, historical claims and spending habits to deliver ranked, data-backed plan recommendations — with the reason for each.
ExploreBR AutoResponse
Intelligent communication. An AI-powered communication assistant that drafts accurate, instant responses across chat, email or helpdesk — grounded in the employee's record, sent only by an agent.
ExploreBR Document Verifier
Automated dependent verification. IntelliVerify uses AI, OCR and NLP to read, classify and verify submitted documents against the dependent record within a HIPAA-compliant framework.
ExploreBR IntelliEdit
Smarter HR content. An AI writing and editing assistant that ensures every piece of HR content is professional, clear and compliant — drafted from approved templates, fact-checked against plan configuration.
ExploreBR Ticket Intelligence
AI routing for support. Automatically classifies and routes tickets to the right HR representative or team, sets priority from the deadline behind the words, and links similar resolved cases.
ExploreAthena for Employees
24/7 benefits assistant. Available in 20+ languages, Athena helps employees with everything from enrollment and plan comparisons to uploading documents or checking status — from their own records and cited policy.
ExploreBR IntelliSearch
Unified search engine. A natural-language search bar for all benefits and compliance data — plans, documents, forms, FAQs, tickets and cases — powered by search retrieval and a language model that ranks by meaning.
See it in useAthena for Admins
Help that knows the screen. Answers administrators from the approved help of the page they are on, runs configuration and compliance checks, and looks up employee facts read-only when asked — it never changes configuration.
ExploreAI-Powered Configuration
From documents to committed rows. Athena IQ reads the client's benefit documents and proposes configuration node by node — rationale, citation and confidence on each — for a consultant to approve and commit.
ExploreBolt-On AI vs. Native Intelligence
Most benefits platforms added AI in the last two years by wiring a chatbot to an export. Benefits Reimagined was written with one intelligence layer in the codebase — the architecture is the moat.
| Question to ask a vendor | Bolt-on AI | BR Intelligence |
|---|---|---|
| Where does the AI read from? | A copy of your data pushed to a partner or a separate index. | The record of truth. The same the platform's own data model tables the platform enrolls and bills from. |
| How many AI vendors are in the loop? | One per feature — chatbot, decision support, document AI. | One layer. Three separated models behind one orchestrator, managed by Benefits Reimagined. |
| Can the AI change a record? | Often yes, via an integration user with broad rights. | No. AI proposes; a person with the right role approves; the write happens on the audited engine. |
| Whose permissions apply? | The integration's, not the person's. | The person's. Every model call inherits the calling user's role-based permissions. |
| What can you show an auditor? | A vendor statement. | A log of every AI action: model, inputs, sources, output, approver, timestamp. |
| Who tunes it? | The vendor's professional services. | Your administrators, in the configuration console — intents, documents, mapping templates, content rules. |
| Where does it run? | The AI vendor's cloud. | Your platform — the same tenant as the rest of Benefits Reimagined. |
Five Rules Every Module Obeys
Benefits data is health data, pay data and family data. The rules below are not a policy document — they are how the code is written, and each one can be checked in the AI usage log.
- Grounded. Answers and drafts come from the employee's own record, the employer's approved documents, or the plan configuration — and say which.
- Scoped. A model sees only what the calling user may see. Employee queries carry the employee's own identifier; admin queries carry the admin's role.
- Human-approved. Mappings, verifications, replies, notices and elections are proposals until a person accepts them.
- Logged. Every call records the model, the inputs, the sources, the output and the approver — the audit trail is also the training signal.
- Configurable. Which modules are on, which categories never auto-draft, which documents may be cited — set per tenant by your administrators, not by us.
Why Organizations Choose BR Intelligence
Automation at Scale
Mapping, verification, routing, drafting and answering run for every employee and every carrier at once — the work that used to scale with headcount now scales with configuration.
Improved Employee Experience
Answers from their own numbers, recommendations with reasons, documents accepted the same day, and one search bar — the experience employees already expect from their bank.
Predictive Accuracy
Models trained on benefits data and corrected by every administrator decision — mapping confidence, verification match rates and recommendation fit improve with each approved outcome.
HRIS Integration
Embedded in SAP SuccessFactors through the certified integration and the Intelligent Services Center, and connected to Workday, UKG, ADP, Dayforce and Paycom through the same API-native sync — one intelligence layer for any HRIS.
Data Security
HIPAA alignment with end-to-end encryption, permission-scoped model calls, and no benefits data copied to an outside AI vendor.
Future-Ready Design
Models are swappable behind one orchestrator; new modules — AI-Powered Configuration, ICHRA and PEO intelligence — join the same layer without a re-platform.
The Architecture Behind Every Answer
Every screen — employee portal, admin console, mobile app — calls one Analytics Context. Behind it, an orchestrator decides which of three intelligence models the request needs, scopes the call to the user's permissions, reads from the platform's one data model (with a search index for retrieval), and returns an answer with its sources. The models are separated on purpose: the one that answers cannot score, the one that scores cannot explain, and none of them can write.
- AI Query — turns a question into a permission-scoped read and turns the rows into plain language; powers Athena, IntelliSearch and AutoResponse
- ML Engine — ranks, matches and detects: plan fit for IntelliSuggest, field similarity for IntelliMap, document match for IntelliVerify, ticket class, billing anomalies
- AI Insight — explains a score or a flag in a sentence with the records behind it; the "why this match" and "why this risk" on every card
- One data model — enrollment, billing, compliance and communication records in one schema, so no module answers from a stale copy
- Runs where you run — the same tenant, the same single sign-on, the same role-based permissions as the rest of the platform
