Employee & HR Experience · BR Mobile App

The Benefits App That Picks Up Where the Desk Left Off

Native iOS and Android apps that put the whole of Employee Home on the phone — the same to-do list, the same rules, the same Athena — so a life event, a document, a message or a bill gets finished where the employee is.

The BR Mobile App is Benefits Reimagined on a phone, not a shrunken website. An employee signs in the way they already do for HR, and sees the same home screen as on the desktop: what to do today, open offers and deadlines, family, coverage and ID cards, documents, help and bills — with My Inbox for messages from HR and Athena one tap away. A reminder arrives as a push and opens the exact step; a birth certificate is photographed into the document file and checked in seconds; a cart started at a desk is finished on the bus. Retirees and continuation-coverage participants use the same app for their own statements, bills and elections.

Reimagining Benefits on the Phone

"This is not about putting benefits on a phone. Most benefits systems were built for desks, an annual window and HR-led steps — and on a phone that breaks: slow pages, menus that lead nowhere, and employees who cannot finish the thing that matters when it matters. Benefits Reimagined treats the phone as a first-class home: built natively, run on the same rules as the desktop, and governed centrally, so an employee can see, understand and act on their benefits securely — and HR gains a channel, not a second system."

2native apps — iOS and Android — on the same rules, data and Athena as the desktop, so a cost per pay is the same on both
1list — offers, deadlines and to-dos in the same order on the phone and the desktop; a push reminder opens the row
4steps to enroll on the phone — plans, family, review, sign — with the cost per pay and the coverage start date shown before the tap
0new logins or new systems — the app signs in through the HR system and is configured from the same place as the desktop

One Employee, Five Mobile Promises

Follow Alex — a new parent on a factory floor — through a year with the app in a pocket: the home screen, the sign-in, a plan decision, the months in between, and the things that get finished on the phone.

The same home screen, built for the phone.

The app opens on the same home screen as Employee Home on the desktop: a welcome from HR, the offers Alex may act on today, the deadlines that matter, and a ranked "for you today" list where every row opens the exact step. Unread messages from My Inbox sit on the same screen. The app is built natively for iOS and Android — gestures, camera, notifications and unlock behave the way each phone's users expect — while the benefits logic underneath is the single Benefits Reimagined platform: the same eligibility rules, the same cost per pay, the same coverage dates, the same IntelliSuggest. A plan that costs $212 per pay on the desktop costs $212 in the app, because it is one calculation.

What the phone gets

  • The same offers, deadlines and to-do list, in the same order, with a push reminder that opens the row
  • Native speed and behaviour — no web page in a wrapper
  • Screen readers, dynamic type and strong contrast, relevant to public-sector and higher-education employers
  • Start on a desk, resume on the bus: the cart, the upload and the message are the same on both

Why it matters

Employees trust apps that feel like the phone they hold, and HR trusts numbers that match the desktop to the cent.

The app shows what the platform is configured to show; HR changes screens, words and announcements centrally, and the app updates without a release.

Core Capabilities of the BR Mobile App

A Benefits Portal on a Phone Browser vs. the BR Mobile App

Most "mobile benefits" is a desktop site squeezed into a phone browser with a separate login. Here is what changes when the phone is a first-class home on the same platform.

Athena in the app

Your Benefits Assistant, in Your Pocket

Athena in the app is the same Athena as on Employee Home: it answers from the employee's own plans, family, balances and deadlines, and it does what a phone is for — a quick answer in the moment, a nudge to the exact screen, and a hand-off to a person through BR Resolve when a person is needed. It never enrolls anyone; the employee always makes the choice on the enrollment screen.

  • "Is urgent care covered here?" — answered from the employee's own plan, with the ID card one tap away
  • "Add my son to dental" — opens the life event with the right fields filled in; the employee confirms
  • A document explained — a 1095-C, a statement or a continuation notice explained line by line
  • Every language on the record — English, Spanish and Canadian French, with Québec Bill 96 handling
  • A person when it matters — anything Athena cannot settle becomes a BR Resolve ticket with the conversation attached

I'm at an urgent care in Denver. Is this covered, and what will I pay?
Athena · from your planYes — urgent care is covered on your PPO Family plan in and out of network, and this clinic is in network. Your copay is $50 and it does not count toward your deductible; you have $1,180 left on the family deductible this year. Your medical ID card is ready to show.

Can I pay the copay from my HSA?
AthenaYou can. Urgent care copays are a qualified expense, and your HSA balance is $2,140. Use the HSA card at the clinic, or pay another way and reimburse yourself from the HSA screen — keep the receipt; you can photograph it into your documents now.

What the BR Mobile App Changes

Benefits reach everyone

Hourly, field and shift employees who never had a desk get the same home as everyone else — in their pocket.

One list, every screen

Offers, deadlines and to-dos in the same order on the phone and the desktop; a reminder opens the row.

No second login, no shadow copies

The HR sign-in and a fingerprint; proofs go to the document file, never to a personal inbox.

Decisions improve

Cost per pay, coverage dates and a recommendation with its reason, before the tap.

Benefits stay relevant all year

ID cards, messages, bills and deadlines — not just three weeks in November.

HR gains a channel, not a system

One platform, one configuration, one audit trail — and BR Intelligence shows where the app lands.

Where Employees Act, Seen From HR

Because the app is a channel of the same platform, HR can see where employees act: which populations finish on the phone, which start at a desk and finish on the bus, how many proofs arrive by camera, how many bills are paid in-app, and where a phone is not enough — a plant floor with no phones still needs a kiosk or a mailer. Athena reads the picture and says where mobile is not landing; the follow-up is a person's decision, sent through Communication Hub, and the words on every screen are HR's to maintain in Content Management.

  • By population — hourly, drivers, office, retirees, continuation coverage, managers — share of actions on a phone versus a desk
  • Documents by camera — uploads from the app and how quickly they were checked
  • Reminders that landed — how often a push opened the exact row, and how many inbox conversations were answered from the phone
  • Bills and approvals — payments made and approvals given in the app
  • What is not claimed — balances and claims depend on the carrier connection; surveys and wellness content appear only where configured
